The town promotes itself as horse friendly city. The location of the new park on the floodplains of the River Ems and at extensive forests offers many oppertunities foor horse riding.

The former tank depot and parade grounds are transformed into a riding school.

The orthogonal structure of the barracks is the basis for the urban interpretation of the garden village. The homes are connected with paths and have deep front gardens.
